My legal fight resulted in Wisconsin's Attorney General confirming citizens can carry a sidearm Wisconsin. I am armed daily, and it is very uneventful. My courses teach you the facts about firearms, how to carry them, and the truth about being safe in public.

The news coverage created quite a load on the computer that hosted this website, so we're in the process of copying the information from the old server to the new server. Please be patient, we're doing our best to field phone calls and schedule training before converting more of the website.

Class schedules and registrations can be done by phone (414) 543-5151, on the AACFI website, or by e-mail: brad.krause@wi.rr.com

People want to be responsible for their own safety. Criminals don't allow phoning police during an attack, and even if you could it would be over before police arrive. Nobody wants to be another crime statistic.

You're much less likely to be a victim if you are able to defend yourself. Criminals prey on easy targets, so refuse to be one!

It is lawful to carry an unconcealed handgun in Wisconsin. If the need to defend yourself does arise, the Wisconsin course will help you do so lawfully, without hesitation and with a clear head. It can also help you minimize your legal costs and other damages due to intended and unintended consequences of self-defense.

The more information you have in advance the better prepared you are. Get the answers to your questions--and to those you haven't thought of yet.

"As a survivor of an armed conflict where I fired in self defense and was charged with but found Not Guilty of Felony Endangering Safety, I wish that I had known beforehand the trouble and $10,000 in lawyers fees that was headed my way when I pulled that trigger. Thank you Brad for helping to make us aware of the unintended consequences."

The NEW Wisconsin Unconcealed Carry Course
Including Out-Of-State Permits to Carry

"You don't have to carry today to be prepared for tomorrow."

The Wisconsin course helps you prepare today to potentially avoid a conflict and properly manage one if needed, preferably without having to use a sidearm. Examples include being confronted by a person initially intent on committing a crime, an ordinary police encounter, or just someone you meet that may have objections. By avoiding a conflict, the expense and aftermath is avoided.

If you cannot withdraw from a conflict, you want a framework of legal, moral, and practical understanding so you are better equipped to minimize your losses.

Managing your losses is important, and unfortunately, this is when some people contact me. A person's options are definitely limited at this point, which is why understanding and planning in advance helps tremendously. "I never thought..." and "I wish I would have..." combine with "How do I..." It is better to be in the middle of executing a plan than trying to create one.

I carry a handgun in public on a daily basis, and can help dispel the myths along with educating you to do the same, without anyone panicking. Even if you just want to carry on your own property, you'll know the laws and have the confidence you need.

Passing my course also allows you to apply for permits so you can carry a handgun in other states, although the real benefit is the knowledge of how to carry safely, what to carry, and how to react.

The Wisconsin course includes

  • Legalities of Carry in Wisconsin
  • Conflict Avoidance
  • 'Use and Threat of Deadly
    Force' Law and Aftermath
  • Everyday Police Encounters
  • Public Perception and Reaction
  • Choosing a Handgun for Carry
  • Mechanics of Everyday Carry
  • Out of State Travel
  • Firearms Safety Related to Daily Carry
  • Six hours of classroom education
  • Shooting Qualification
  • Out-Of-State Concealed Carry Permit Application and Appeal Process

A 240 page book on sidearm carry, spiral-bound notebook, and other materials are included. Florida and Minnesota permit applications are the most common and the forms are available in class.

Requirements

  • Students must have basic handgun knowledge and be comfortable shooting a sidearm before taking this course. If you or your spouse do not, please contact me about taking a basic handgun course or one-on-one instruction. Your safety and understanding is very important to me, and I want you to be comfortable with using firearms properly.
  • You need to supply 50 rounds of ammunition for the gun you'll be using. (You can use one of mine if you want.)

Tuition is $150 per student for a jam-packed day, $85 for current concealed carry permit holders.

Mission Statement

I am dedicated to providing outstanding training in firearms safety, storage, handling, permit to carry, and advanced defensive carry instruction. My courses are customized to reflect and support the unique laws of Wisconsin in addition to the permit requirements of other states. Along with safety and legal training, I teach practical application based on advanced tactical training and real-world experience.

Quality Instruction From The Start

Founding member Joe Olson is a Professor of Law at Hamline University and longtime political activist involved in 2nd Amendment issues. He is founder and President of Concealed Carry Reform, NOW! and a former national Board member of the National Rifle Association. A former federal prosecutor and experienced defense counsel, he's licensed to practice law in Minnesota and California. In addition to being a NRA Certified Firearms Instructor since 1985, Olson is a graduate of the Lethal Force Institute in Concord, and holds many other related certifications. AACFI courses are designed to share this knowledge with instructors and students for the highest quality of instruction available.

Special Incentive

I encourage you to bring family and friends--it makes the class more dynamic, and helps inform people they don't have to be victims and they do have rights. Also, if they ever have to use a weapon defensively, they'll better understand what to expect from the criminal justice system. As an incentive, if you bring a new student you'll each get a 10% discount--just mention this offer when you register with Wisconsin Firearms Training at (414) 543-5151. In addition, if you refer 10 students you get a $100 gift certificate.
